Plyometrics Training – A Brief Look Inside
What is Plyometrics?
Plyometrics is one very specially designed and particular type of training exercise, which comes with its aim to confirm agility, strength, and power of human physical condition. Plyometrics training has also put its significant concentration on the issues, which are involved with the improvement of nervous system of the body. In other words, the term ‘Plyometrics’ could be defined as one comprehensive sport and athletic training approach, which are being considered as one mandatory set of exercises, which helps any athletes to confirm the best out of his or her performance. Besides of such particular purposes, Plyometrics trainings has also been seen as one regular physical exercise sets, followed by many hundreds and thousand, who are looking for a sound and vibrant physical state for a better living.
How it works?
Plyometrics trainings are the key mechanisms, which involves mainly with some particular types of muscle contraction. The movements used for Plyometrics training are known as Plyometrics movements. Such particular movements have designed to develop some specific muscle retrenchment pattern by two ways. These ways are:
- Tighten the tissues of some particular areas of the body. Specially the tissue, inside and around the muscle area.
- Prepare the nerve cell of the body, on order to generate a strong stimulation.
As one of the key parts of Plyometrics training, Plyometrics movements are coming in action by three different phases, like:
- Phase – 01:
This phase is also known as eccentric phase, where most of the Plyometrics movements have involved with the purpose of lengthening the muscles of the body.
- Phase – 02:
Amortization Phase is mostly known to refer this stage of Plyometrics training, which is actually the resting period of this process. During this phase, a particular period of rest, assure the body muscles to gain some sort of relaxation after the previous phase.
- Phase – 03:
As one of the core part of Plyometrics training, this phase has brought intense muscle curbing Plyometrics movements. Referred as concentric phase, the ultimate concentration at this phase is to ensure such a physical state, where different muscles of the body are ready to work simultaneously.
Different trainings and activities of Plyometrics approach involves with one particular types of physical reflex, known as ‘Myotatic Reflex’. This is one such special human body reflex, which allows the tightening of muscle as a response or reflex of stretching that occurred inside the muscle. More precise name of this particular reflex is ‘Monosynaptic Reflex’.
Mechanisms of Plyometrics Training:
There are two particular mechanisms are mainly followed during Plyometrics training. These are:
- Muscle – Tendon Mechanism.
Contraction of muscle is the pre – requisite of any types of movements, where the muscle or muscles are involved. There are two common types of contraction has been seen. These are:
I. Concentric Contraction:
When the muscle has got shorten for any movement purpose, that particular condition is known as concentric contraction. There is a limit beyond which, no muscle can get contracted by concentrically.
II. Eccentric Contraction:
The process which makes any muscle or muscles to got lengthened. Usually, this state has come at the first place, and then the concentric contraction happened. Almost every muscle has some sort of ‘elastic energy’ inside, and this particular type of energy is the key working force behind the eccentric contraction.
Stretch Shortening Cycle (SSC) is one such cycle, which has been used to measure the transition period of muscle from eccentric to concentric phase.
Muscle Tendon mechanisms of Plyometrics training has its more involvement with three particular muscle fibers, which are available in human muscles, namely:
a) Type – I.
b) Type – IIa.
c) Type – IIb.
2. Neurological Mechanism.
Everything of human activities are being initiated, controlled, regulated, and monitored by one tremendously powerful and functional brain. As with no exception of this concept, Plyometrics training has its significant and major dependencies and interactions with several command centric functions of human brain.
Besides regular practices of different physical exercises, some particular and intense concentration is required to develop one purposeful of mindset in synchronization with the purpose of Plyometrics training.
